Who we support

ICA support all duty holders to help them ensure that they meet their legal obligations, including building works classified as which require additional measures, including the creation of a mandatory of information.

Sectors

Sectors we work across

ICA work across all sectors within the Construction industry, as the responsibilities for all works that are registered under Building Regulations need to comply with the Building Safety Act.

There is a common misconception that it simply relates to taller, residential schemes which is completely incorrect.

The legislation applies to every single project, where Clients, Contractors, Designers and supply chain hold legal responsibilities for organisational and workforce competency, along with compliance with quality management and Building Regulations.

This is why ICA support all of these client groups, across all market sectors, to raise awareness and support them meet their legal duties.

Those schemes classified as higher-risk buildings require a more detailed approach towards evidencing compliance, which ICA will help support through the development of better quality control and works inspection, with improved record management.

Duty Holder Responsibility

Liability

Our aim is to ensure that we provide the framework to satisfy both organisational and personal responsibilities, to mitigate potential liability, particularly for identified duty holders. It is important that the specific duties are fully understood and more importantly, formally satisfied for each project. Duty holders must feel confident ahead of signing legal compliance declarations for their own peace of mind, with such substantial corporate and personal penalties available, should enforcement be required.

Competence

All duty holders are required to demonstrate that organisationally and individually, they have the commensurate competence to deliver the building work/project ahead of their appointment.

“The necessary skills, knowledge, experience and behaviour to carry out the design and building work they are engaged to do. They are also required to only undertake work within the limits of their competence.”
